Overview

Sometimes, a Sales Order cannot be be fulfilled completely, often due to insufficient stock at the time of delivery. If this occurs, it can keep the sales order from being completely delivered and paid for.

In this scenario, you have the option to Split the Sales Order, which will isolate the undeliverable products from the original Sales Order and transfer them to a new Sales Order, deducting quantities requested from the original Sales Order.

Splitting the Sales Order

  1. In order to split a Sales Order, you will need to be viewing a Sales Order with at least one completed delivery in which not all products on the Sales Order could be delivered. You can view the delivery details to be sure, but we have isolated this scenario, and put up a warning when viewing the Sales Order.
  2. If you have the Sales Order Create and Sales Order Edit Role, you will see the Split button among the available actions. Clicking on it will attempt to split the undeliverable products to it's own Sales Order.
  3. If successful, you will be presented with a new Sales Order set to Draft, with the undeliverable products, and a note indicating that the sales order fulfills remaining quantities from the original sales order.
  4. Replenish the products listed, and complete the Sales Order!

Troubleshooting

Q: I clicked on "Split," but there was no new sales order generated.

A: If the sales order delivery has not been completed, there were no undeliverable products. Have the delivery performed, recording actual units delivered, and the difference between the Sales Order quantities and the Delivered quantities will be eligible for splitting.
