General Explanation

A Work In Progress (WIP) is an entry to a tank, such as an ingredient or packaging material, containing some associated cost and amount information. WIPs track every material consumed in producing the product and are used to calculate the overall cost of production.

WIP entry types

Type
Definition
Ingredients An ingredient WIP is a part of a scheduled recipe added to a tank.
Additional Ingredients This is an extra ingredient, not a part of any recipe, added to a tank after brewing.
Packaging A packaging WIP is created through either regular packaging or scanned packaging and is automatically created for each packaging material of each packaged product. For more information on assigning packaging materials to products, see Product Skus
Waste Packaging An additional, or waste, packaging material is an extra material added to a tank through packaging. An example is in keg packaging, where a keg automatically uses a Keg Cap in packaging, but if you were to need to use up an extra Keg Cap in packaging then this material would constitute Waste Packaging in the tank.
Filtering A material created with the category of Filtering. For more information on creating filter-type materials, see Materials.
Sku To Repackage This type of WIP occurs in packaging composite skus, such as a mixer pack of different types of beer. To make such a product, select the type as Composite when creating a product.
Finished Product A finished product WIP is created from packaging products, such as a 50L Keg. Therefore these WIPS will represent either ingredients used up in the process of making the finished product or the product itself.
